The department of education are carrying out an investigation in to why results have improved so much over the last couple of decades…
There was an interesting article in The Irish Times today titled “Thousands of students face school shutdown“. It basically highlights the fact that the government have banned replacement workers so teachers & staff that are retiring or going on breaks for whatever reason cannot be replaced, meaning existing staff will be over stretched and they simply won’t work because they’re not being paid enough (or that’s what they say).
YOU are single handedly holding the weight of the nation on your shoulders. You must come up with an idea that will either (a) save money (b) make money. What do you do? Where do you start?
When you’re being taught about a subject, you assume that your teacher is qualified to teach… you probably don’t even question their qualifications (i know i didn’t when i was at school). Surely that’s down to whoever hires them, whoever pays their wages and evaluates them.

We’ve been working hard on theleavingcert.com over the past couple of months and although the results are visible on the site itself, they’re also evident from our traffic stats.
Half way through January 2010 we rolled out a whole load of changes on this site.
Wednesday, June 9th is D Day. That’s the day that you’re dreading. Along with 7 or 8 others. The gaps between exams might look good on paper, but really, they just prolong the agony.
We’ve made some more little but important changes to the site…
I’m assuming no teacher will call mock exams ‘mock’ exams. It sounds very gutterish… much too street to be accepted by teachers or anyone connected to education in an official capacity.
